Tony & Gibbs: ten years of partnership, friendship and... (sa)

Everything began ten years ago when a gruffy NCIS Agent was knocked down by a cocky a BPD Homicide Detective... Ten years of partneship-friendship-father&son need a celebration and this is the right place to do that. Tony&Gibbs are the soul and the heart of NCIS and the reason why the most part of viewers started watching and still watch the show every week. The chemistry between Michael Weatherly and Mark Harmon is palpable and it's displayed in all its uniqueness and naturalness on the show. Nothing is forced between their characters and when there's a lack of their scenes the show suffers. Excellent idea rose! I think these two actors create a formidable partnership both on and off screen, something you don't often see nowadays.

Wow, the chance to talk about my most favorite TV relationship! WOOHOO! I loved Baltimore! It occurred to me that Gibbs and Tony had that one meeting and Gibbs calls Tony and not Danny even though I guess Danny might be the "senior" partner if there is such a thing. Also, Gibbs had instantaneously made up him mind about Tony. He already had Pacci getting his file. He didn't have a chance to get to know him or anything like he did with Kate. I guess his gut just knew. How long had Stan Burley been gone before Gibbs hired Tony? Do you find this valuable? |

I guess his gut just knew.In the scene where Tony tackles Gibbs and deftly dodges Gibbs' punch with a quick draw, you can see that Gibbs is impressed and is already silently evaluating him. When they're discussing the case and Gibbs letting them arrest him, you can tell he's testing Tony and likely already thinking about poaching him from the BPD. Not sure how long Burley had been gone. Do you find this valuable? |

What surprised me about the Baltimore episode is that Gibbs and Tony really did not work the case "together." I've been thinking about that and about Ducky's statement that Gibbs took to Ziva faster than anyone. Going from their flashbacks to the Baltimore episode, did anyone else get the impression that Ducky and Abby did not know how they met? I'm thinking about Gibbs statement to Abby that he knew Danny too. From the flashbacks, Gibbs was the only one who met Tony. What if he "sprung" Tony on them and they didn't know how they met or anything. That might explain why Abby did not "take" to Tony at first. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. What do you guys think? It also could explain why Ducky would think that Gibbs took to Ziva faster than anyone if he didn't know that Gibbs met Tony and had pretty much decided to bring him to NCIS.

They might not even have met Tony until after Tony completed FLETC. That Abby didn't know that Gibbs knew Danny makes it likely that she didn't meet Tony until later. Plus, we know Gibbs isn't always very forthcoming with information. Gibbs could have grunted out "new team member coming" and then said nothing else about Tony until he arrived. Also,we know how Abby is when new people join the team, and she speaks fondly of Stan Burley. She might have rejected Tony immediately just because he wasn't Stan. The fact that they're close friends now speaks more to me than first impressions, especially considering Abby tends to reject new team members and tries not to befriend them. Do you find this valuable? |

I've never thought about that but now that you mention it... I think you're right!Ducky's statment about how fast Gibbs took to Ziva was weird the first time I've heard it, since Gibbs was completely against her (and hindsight he was right since his trust in her was based on a lie) and Jenny forced him to take her on his team. And now, after ''Baltimore'', that sentence is even more unbelievable and the only reason that I can find for such a misunderstanding it's that Ducky didn't know what Gibbs thought (and did) when he met BPD Detective DiNozzo. Gibbs took to Tony faster than anyone else. They just needed their first mute talk and some stares and smirks and they clicked. The chemistry between them was palpable since the first time they met, when Tony threw Gibbs on the ground and aimed a gun to him as he said ''I said freeze, dirtbag!". Look at Gibbs face, after the very first confusion he immediately appreciated that strong and fearless young man. After their first talk at Baltimore precinct, Tony was already Gibbs' SFA ;) Do you find this valuable? |

Great points you two. I especially can see Tony completing FLETC w/o anyone knowing him and Gibbs keeping Tony to himself and guiding him through the courses. Plus they are so alike, Gibbs wouldn't tell anyone the story and all Tony would say was "I Smiled." That also makes Abby's reaction more realistic that she would act like that w/ Tony until she got to know him. They may not even know about Wendy. Tony may have just went through it with Gibbs if that happened while he was in training.

Maybe Abby could have been a bit jelous too, because she had to share her 'dad' Gibbs with an unknown smiling guy, that quoted movies and talked incessantly LOL Do you find this valuable? |

Baltimore was awesome. I thought when I saw it, I would be satisfied, but it has just left me wanting more. I guess that's how you know a good story when you hate for it to end and want it to continue.

We would have seen them working as two-man team with Abby and Ducky... the Core 4 together for the first time!!! Do you find this valuable? |

I love SWAK and how Gibbs went all "nutso" when Tony was poisoned. He was about to lose his mind because Tony was sick. Nobody could stand in his way.

Another great ep, not to mention Missing and Chained where Gibbs was also frantic with worry over Tony; in the same way that Tony gets frantic when Gibbs goes off on his todd without telling anyone, as in Requiem

I think in Spider and Fly Gibbs wanted to keep Tony near him He sent Ziva and McGee away to investigate. But he kept Tony right there with him.

Looks like Gibbs and Tony father/son is totally back for S9! Great scenes in the premier. Gibbs staying at the hospital with Tony, confronting both Vance and SecNav because he was worried for Tony! Going looking for Tony after he turns down Ziva's party. The scene at the shooting range!And the closing scene of the second ep! Wow, wow, wow! Do you find this valuable? |
